An example of the type of topics covered during the course, starting with the Introduction to Wedding Photography Course, then the Standard Wedding Course which can be either a two, three or four day course.
Introdution into Wedding Photography.
Day One
09.30 What do you want from the course.
09.45 Introduction and outline of course
10.00 Bateman Studios. 35 years of running three very successful studios.
We will show you ways of getting started with many money making ideas.
11.00 What makes a good wedding photographer. An insight into why some photographers
make good wedding photographers and others not.
11.15 Coffee Break.
11.30 A look at equipment, types of cameras and which are best for weddings.
We will be looking at other equipment, such as tripods, flash and back up
gear.
12.00 Taking a look at lighting using flash, demonstrating fill, diffused
and direct flash together with balancing flash with daylight.
12.30 Practical demonstration using flash, looking a lighting indoors using
our own studio.
13.30 Lunch, an hour spent in one of the many eating places around Milford
Marina. Time to relax and take a look at some of the shops.
14.30 Questions on lighting, with demonstration of fill flash outdoors and
balancing flash with daylight. Use of models supplied.
15.00 Break.
15.15 Demonstration of Photoshop, looking at working with levels and adjustments.
We will also be looking at some of your work that you have taken so far.
16.00 Question time. At this point you will be given some work to do tonight in your own time for us to take a look at in the morning.
Day Two.
09.30 Looking at some of the tasks set from yesterday
10.00 Planning a wedding. Taking a look into some of the planning that goes into the wed ding day by starting months before the day itself. How we can make the job much easier, working out in advance our exposures and places to take each of the images on the day.
11.00 Coffee Break.
11.15 Looking at an introduction into outdoor lighting, how we can use this during the day itself, without ever using a light metre.
12.00 Visit a church to look at areas for photography. Practical work with models supplied for you to get some hands on experience. We will be looking at posing and order of images taken during an actual wedding day.
13.00 Lunch, an hour spent in one of the many eating places around the waterway.
14.15 Looking at outside lighting after lunch with some more hands on experience. Here we will be showing you the use of soft lighting that we can find at the church and at the reception. This lighting will give you much better results, its simple, its easy but only if you know how!
15.00 Arrive back at the centre. Break.
15.15 Comments on some of the work taken and taking a look at the effects of the lighting that we used both at the church and on location.

Day One.

11.15 Taking a look at all the types of lighting that will be available to us during a wedding. How we use it and how we can make the most of it.
12.00 Practical work where we have models to demonstrate all the different type of lighting, giving you tasks to complete. Here we will look at studio flash, window light, avail able light, direct flash, fill lighting, balancing daylight with artificial and direct sunlight.
13.30 Lunch discussing lighting and any questions.
14.15 Looking at outside lighting after lunch with some more hands on experience. Here we will be showing you the use of soft lighting that we can find at the church and at the reception. conditions set and how it has worked for you.

Day Two.
09.30 Looking at work from yesterday and any questions on the different types of lighting so far.
10.00 Planning a wedding. Taking a look into some of the planning that goes into the wed ding day by starting months before the day itself. How we can make the job much easier, working out in advance our exposures and places to take each of the images on the day.

11.00 Taking a look at the required list and shots that have sold well. How we work with this on the day to get a reportage feel to the images. 11.45 Subtraction of light. Here we will be showing you the standards that are set with this type of lighting. It is this lighting that will stand you out from everyone else. How we can achieve this standard of lighting on a wedding when we have not got the time to set up complex lighting systems. All will be explained!
12.30 Visit a church location. Now its over to you to find that lighting and work out how we can use it on the day to our advantage.
14.00 Lunch at one of the many places found along this beautiful coastline.
15.00 Arrive back at the centre. Break.
15.15 Albums and presentation. Taking a look at types of albums and how we present the work to the Bride and Groom.
15.45 Organisations and where to go next. We will talk about qualifications and show you what images are required to win awards.
16.00 Questions.
Day Three.
09.30 Looking at work from yesterday and any questions on the different types of lighting so far. Understanding subtraction of lighting. If you have other work an opportunity will be given to show your work for discussion and critique.
10.30 Recap on the different types of lighting and how we can use it on the wedding day itself. Looking more at subtraction, available and ambient lighting.
11.00 Coffee Break.
11.15 Taking a look at an actual wedding from start to finish. Here we will see how it works and how easy it becomes when you don't ever have to worry about exposure metres! We will run through the list of images and how we work with reportage style. More insight into group management and dealing with difficult situation, such as bad weather.
12.00 Models, practical work, looking at posing, group arrangement and some special and more artistic poses. Here we can work on location or studio and put into practise some of the lighting situations that you have been shown. There will be tasks set for the rest of the day to complete.
14.00 Lunch at one of the many places found along this beautiful coastline.
15.00 Arrive back at the centre and taking a quick look at some of the work taken.
15.15 Practical work with Photoshop. Hands on to improve your skills with this fantastic programme. We will also show you how we work with face retouching and some of the special effects that can be achieved. Other topics include use of backgrounds in albums and page design.
16.00 Questions.
Day Four
09.30 Looking at work from yesterday and any questions on the different types of lighting so far. Understanding subtraction of lighting. If you have other work an opportunity will be given to show your work for discussion and critique.
10.30 Business. Here we will take a look at pricing and the types of coverage's that can be included. We will take a look at the different style of photography over the past 40 years and where we think it will go next. How to produce your own brochures, web page design, data base and spread sheets are other topics that can be covered. Some of this will be practical with a working coffee break in between.
12.00 Taking a look at a church, giving you the opportunity to find the lighting and to plan your list of images at that church, as if it were an actual wedding day. Models will be available for you to work with and come up with a great set of images to be worked on later.
14.30 Lunch at one of the many places found along this beautiful coastline.
15.00 Arrive back at the centre and taking a quick look at some of the work taken. Work with Photoshop and try out some different effects. Design your own page using your own background. We will take a look at how we work with the “third image”.
16.00 Questions.
Advanced Wedding Course.
The Advanced Wedding Course is based on the same lines as day three and four, except we will be covering an wedding from start to finish on the forth day. We shall be starting at the Brides house in the morning and taking you through the whole day till the reception. You will be given a list of images to take, which the Bride and Groom want certain lighting situation. They also require some casuals taken as well as the required list. There will be set time in which to take these images, just like on a real wedding day. There will be models for the day, such as Bride and Groom, Bridesmaids, Best man, together with a Mum and Dad. At the end of the day you will have an hour to produce a set of 36 images for the Bride and Groom to view. Pressure or what!
